Mobile RV service in Cheney and southwest Spokane County
Cheney sits on the plateau southwest of Spokane, where SR-904 runs from I-90 at Four Lakes through town toward Tyler. Between Eastern Washington University, the small farms around Marshall and Spangle and the lake country toward Medical Lake, a lot of RVs here live on private property rather than in storage lots. That’s exactly where a mobile RV tech is useful: we come to the rig instead of you towing it into Spokane and waiting for a service bay.
If you searched for mobile RV repair near me or RV repair near me from Cheney, this is the page. We handle the everyday problems (a generator that surges, a furnace that won’t light, batteries that die over winter) and the bigger power upgrades: lithium, solar and Victron inverter systems built for eastern Washington winters.
United Mobile RV LLC is dealership-trained, 11+ years: a Victron Energy Certified Installer, a weBoost Certified Installer/Reseller, a Dometic Professional and a Peplink Certified Associate.

Where we work around Cheney
- Cheney: in town, around EWU, and out along SR-904 and the Cheney-Spokane Road
- Four Lakes and Medical Lake: including the lakes country and rigs near Fairchild AFB
- Marshall, Spangle and Tyler: farms and acreage south and west of town, where rigs often sit on gravel or grass
- Airway Heights and west Spokane: a short hop north; see our Airway Heights page
- Spokane and the South Hill: see the Spokane hub
Rural address? No problem. Send a pin or directions, tell us if the driveway is gravel or soft in spring, and let us know where the rig is parked relative to power.

We’re not affiliated with any of these parks. They’re places local RVers stay, and we’ll meet you at your site where the park allows outside technicians:
- Peaceful Pines RV Park & Campground: on the west side of Cheney near EWU, with 28 sites ranging from dry camping to full hookups. It’s for self-contained rigs only (no restrooms or showers), so your water, waste and power systems all have to work.
- Riverside State Park, Bowl and Pitcher: on the Spokane River northwest of Spokane, with standard, partial and full-hookup sites for rigs up to 45 feet.
- Northern Quest RV Resort: in Airway Heights, about 15 minutes north, with 67 RV sites including deluxe pull-throughs.
- Farm and acreage parking: where most Cheney rigs actually live. We regularly work beside barns and shops on 30-amp or 15-amp house power.
Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge sits just south of town, and the Columbia Plateau Trail starts nearby at Fish Lake. Good reasons to stay a while, but neither has RV hookups, so plan to camp at a park and day-trip.
RV life around Cheney: wind, cold and smoke
Cheney is up on open scabland, and winter is the hard season for RVs here. Nights regularly drop well below freezing from November into March, wind finds every gap in an underbelly, and a rig parked on the farm without heat is at risk the first hard cold snap. Water left in low-point lines, the pump or the water heater freezes and splits fittings. A proper winterization in October is cheap insurance.
Cold is also tough on batteries. Lead-acid batteries that sit partly charged can freeze, and lithium (LiFePO4) batteries must not be charged below freezing. A good battery management system blocks charging when it’s too cold, which on a January morning can look like a dead system. We set up low-temperature protection, battery heat or a warmer battery location, and charger settings that match.
Summer swings the other way: hot afternoons, dusty farm roads that clog generator air filters, and in some years weeks of wildfire smoke that cut solar output and make you lean on the generator and AC. We size systems with both seasons in mind.
Long drives start here too. I-90 heads west toward Moses Lake and the Cascades and east through Spokane toward the Idaho line. Before a big trip, a pre-trip check of brakes, tires, lights, breakaway switch and LP system is worth doing while you’re still close to home.
RV repairs we do most around Cheney
These are the calls we get most from Cheney and southwest Spokane County, with a short explanation of what’s usually going on:
- Generator service and repair. We service and repair Onan, Generac and Kohler RV generators: oil, filters and plugs, plus surging, no-start and shut-down-under-load problems. Gas units that sit for months often surge because old fuel varnishes the carburetor; running the generator under load about once a month helps. Out here, dust from farm roads also clogs air filters fast, so we check those on every generator maintenance visit. See generator service.
- Winterizing and freeze damage. We winterize with a compressed-air blow-out, RV antifreeze where you want it, and a water heater bypass, and we fix the split fittings, cracked pump heads and leaking valves that a missed freeze leaves behind. Rigs stored on open acreage get the full force of the wind, so we pay extra attention to exposed lines and the water heater. See plumbing and our winterization guide.
- LP gas, furnace and water heater. Furnaces that click but won’t light, water heaters that fault out, regulators that freeze up or leak, and LP detectors past their date. We leak-test and pressure-check before we call anything fixed. A furnace that runs fine in October and quits in January is often a weak battery, a dirty sail switch or an igniter, not a dead furnace. See LP gas.
- 12V and shore power faults. Rigs plugged into a shop or barn outlet often see low voltage on long extension cords. We trace dead outlets, tripping GFCIs, burnt shore power plugs, converters that stopped charging and parasitic draws that flatten batteries in storage. See RV electrical.
- Victron, lithium and solar. As a Victron Energy Certified Installer we install and service MultiPlus inverter/chargers, SmartShunt monitors, Cerbo GX and VRM monitoring, DC-DC charging and solar. For rigs on the farm, a small solar array plus a SmartShunt keeps the batteries topped up all winter without leaving the rig plugged in. See Victron systems.
- Roof and seals. Lap sealant around vents, skylights and the AC, seam repairs, and moisture checks with thermal imaging to find soft spots before they spread. Sun and wind dry out sealant on the plateau, so we check the roof every time we’re up there. See roof and seals.
- Starlink, Peplink and weBoost. Mounting and powering Starlink, Peplink routers that fail over between Starlink and cellular, and weBoost boosters for weak signal. Coverage gets thin south and west of town, and Starlink works well under the open sky here. See connectivity.
How a mobile visit works
- Call, text or book online with the year, make and model, what the rig is doing, and where it’s parked in Cheney or the surrounding area. Photos or a short video help.
- We ask a few questions first. Some problems are a setting or a tripped breaker, and we’ll tell you if a remote session can sort it out without a trip.
- If we need to come out, we set a day and a time window. Let the park office or storage facility know an outside technician is coming.
- On site we test before we replace: meter readings, load tests, and thermal imaging where it helps. You get a plain explanation and a quote before any repair starts.
- Most repairs are finished on the same visit. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you what and how long, then come back to finish.

OUR TOOL KIT
Our tool kit for Cheney RVers
These are products we’d actually point a Spokane-area RVer toward for the problems we see here: cold-weather batteries, storage drain, smoke-season power and long highway days. Certified-brand gear first.
- Victron SmartShunt battery monitor: shows true battery state of charge on your phone, so you know before winter storage drains the bank.
- Victron Blue Smart IP22 12V 30A charger: a smart charger you can leave on a stored rig at the farm through winter; it holds the batteries at the right float voltage.
- Epoch V2-T 12V heated lithium battery (our shop): a heated lithium bank that protects itself from charging below freezing, with Victron CAN-bus support. We sell and install it. That matters in a Cheney January.
- weBoost Destination RV cell booster, installed by us: for weak cell signal out on the farms south and west of town.
- Camco 25-ft heated drinking water hose: a heated drinking-water hose rated to -20°F, so you can stay hooked up through a cold snap without a frozen supply line.
- Progressive Industries EMS-PT30X portable surge protector: a portable surge protector and EMS for 30-amp rigs. It cuts power on high or low voltage, an open neutral or a miswired pedestal before that takes out a converter or air conditioner. A 50-amp version is on our recommended gear page.
We don’t have a verified link we’re happy with yet for tank heaters or RV antifreeze, so pick those up locally; tank heaters sized for your tanks and pink RV antifreeze (never automotive) will do. More picks on our recommended gear page, and parts we carry in the United Mobile RV shop.

Cheney RV repair FAQ
Do you really come out to farms and acreage around Cheney?
Yes. A lot of our Cheney-area work is beside a barn or shop. Send a pin, tell us about the driveway and where the rig is parked, and we’ll plan for it.
Can you winterize my RV at my place?
Yes. We blow out the lines, bypass the water heater and add RV antifreeze where you want it. Flat-rate winterization is $175 for a travel trailer and $225 for a fifth wheel or motorhome, per our pricing page.
My generator surges and then dies. Can you fix it on site?
Usually. On gas generators that sit, old fuel varnishing the carburetor is the most common cause. We also check the air filter, plugs, fuel pump and load. Most repairs happen at the rig.
My lithium batteries won’t charge on cold mornings. Are they bad?
Probably not. Most LiFePO4 batteries block charging near freezing to protect themselves. We check the BMS and charger settings, then add battery heat or move the bank somewhere warmer.
Do you work at Peaceful Pines or other RV parks?
Yes, where the park allows outside technicians. Send your site number and let the office know we’re coming.
What does a visit cost?
The on-site diagnostic visit is $175. It’s a standalone fee for on-site troubleshooting. Labor is $150/hr. Every visit has a minimum: one hour of labor ($150) or the $175 diagnostic, depending on the job. $75 trip fee within 50 miles. Over 50 miles, $2.00/mile both ways. Parts and supplies vary per job.
Can you help before driving out?
Often, yes. A remote session by phone, video or Victron VRM sorts out a lot of settings and charging problems, and if we still need to come out we’ll know what to bring.
