Mobile RV service on the West Plains
Airway Heights sits on the open West Plains between Spokane International Airport and Fairchild Air Force Base, with US-2 running straight through town. It’s a place where RVs come and go: military families heading to or from a PCS move, travelers staying at the resort park, and locals storing rigs on lots and acreage west of Spokane.
We bring the diagnostic tools and common parts to you, whether that’s a site at Northern Quest, a storage lot off US-2 or a driveway in Medical Lake. That covers the everyday fixes (generator surging, furnace not lighting, batteries dead after storage) and the bigger jobs like lithium, solar and Victron power systems.
United Mobile RV LLC is dealership-trained, 11+ years: a Victron Energy Certified Installer, a weBoost Certified Installer/Reseller, a Dometic Professional and a Peplink Certified Associate.

We’re not affiliated with any of these parks. They’re places local RVers stay, and we’ll meet you at your site where the park allows outside technicians:
- Northern Quest RV Resort: next to the Northern Quest resort in Airway Heights, with 67 RV sites including deluxe pull-throughs.
- Riverside State Park, Bowl and Pitcher: northeast of town on the Spokane River, with standard, partial and full-hookup sites for rigs up to 45 feet.
- Peaceful Pines RV Park & Campground: in Cheney, about 15 minutes south, with dry-camping to full-hookup sites for self-contained rigs.
- Fairchild AFB FamCamp: for authorized base patrons only. Check base rules before asking any outside technician to come on base.
- Storage lots along US-2: where a lot of West Plains rigs spend the off-season.
RV life on the West Plains: wind, cold and moving season
The West Plains are flat and open, and that means wind. Winter storms blow snow across US-2, wind chill drives cold deep into underbellies and wet bays, and an unheated rig in storage can freeze much faster than you’d expect. A proper winterization in October and a quick check after the first hard freeze save a lot of spring repairs.
Cold also catches batteries. Lead-acid batteries left partly charged can freeze, and lithium batteries must not be charged below freezing. A good BMS blocks charging when it’s too cold, which can look like a dead system on a January morning. We set up low-temperature protection, battery heat or a warmer location, and charger settings that match.
Summer is moving season around the base. A rig that sat for a year and is about to pull a family cross-country needs more than a wash: tires checked for age and pressure, brakes and breakaway switch tested, LP system leak-checked, and the generator run under load before it’s needed in a hot campground three states away.
Late summer often brings wildfire smoke to the Spokane area. Solar output drops, and people lean on generators and AC. We size systems with smoky weeks in mind.
RV repairs we do most around Airway Heights
The work we see most on the West Plains, with a short explanation of each:
- PCS and pre-trip inspections. Brakes, tires (including age codes), lights, hitch, breakaway switch, LP leak check, battery and charging test, and a generator run under load. If anything needs fixing before you leave, we quote it on the spot. Trip prep and safety check is a flat rate on our pricing page.
- Generator service and repair. We service and repair Onan, Generac and Kohler RV generators: oil, filters and plugs, plus surging, no-start and shut-down-under-load problems. Gas units that sit for months often surge because old fuel varnishes the carburetor; running the generator under load about once a month helps. A generator that sat through a long deployment or a year in storage almost always needs fresh fuel, a carburetor cleaning or both before a big trip. See generator service.
- Winterizing and freeze damage. We winterize with a compressed-air blow-out, RV antifreeze where you want it, and a water heater bypass, and we fix the split fittings, cracked pump heads and leaking valves that a missed freeze leaves behind. Rigs parked on open lots out here take the full wind, so we pay extra attention to exposed lines, the water heater and the outside shower. See plumbing and our winterization guide.
- 12V and shore power faults. If you’re selling or buying a rig before a move, a full electrical check is worth it. Our pre-purchase inspection guide covers what we look at. We trace dead outlets, tripping GFCIs, burnt shore power plugs, converters that stopped charging and parasitic draws that flatten batteries in storage. See RV electrical.
- LP gas, furnace and water heater. Furnaces that click but won’t light, water heaters that fault out, regulators that freeze up or leak, and LP detectors past their date. We leak-test and pressure-check before we call anything fixed. An LP detector chirping or past its date is a common find on pre-trip checks; they have a service life and a date on the label. See LP gas.
- Victron, lithium and solar. As a Victron Energy Certified Installer we install and service MultiPlus inverter/chargers, SmartShunt monitors, Cerbo GX and VRM monitoring, DC-DC charging and solar. For families who boondock on the way to a new base, a lithium bank with a MultiPlus and DC-DC charging makes long travel days a lot easier. See Victron systems.
- Starlink, Peplink and weBoost. Mounting and powering Starlink, Peplink routers that fail over between Starlink and cellular, and weBoost boosters for weak signal. If you work from the road during a move, a Peplink router with Starlink and cellular failover keeps you online between towns. See connectivity.
How a mobile visit works
- Call, text or book online with the year, make and model, what the rig is doing, and where it’s parked in Airway Heights or on the West Plains. Photos or a short video help.
- We ask a few questions first. Some problems are a setting or a tripped breaker, and we’ll tell you if a remote session can sort it out without a trip.
- If we need to come out, we set a day and a time window. Let the park office or storage facility know an outside technician is coming.
- On site we test before we replace: meter readings, load tests, and thermal imaging where it helps. You get a plain explanation and a quote before any repair starts.
- Most repairs are finished on the same visit. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you what and how long, then come back to finish.

OUR TOOL KIT
Our tool kit for West Plains RVers
Gear we’d point an Airway Heights RVer toward, especially before a long move: monitoring, charging and road safety. Certified-brand gear first.
- Victron SmartShunt battery monitor: know your real battery state of charge on the road and in storage.
- Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30 DC-DC charger: a Victron DC-DC charger that charges the house batteries properly from the tow vehicle or chassis alternator on long travel days.
- Peplink MAX BR1 Pro 5G router, installed by us: a Peplink 5G router for staying online during a cross-country move.
- weBoost Drive Reach RV cell booster, installed by us: a weBoost booster for weak signal between towns.
- Progressive Industries EMS-PT30X portable surge protector: a portable surge protector and EMS for 30-amp rigs. It cuts power on high or low voltage, an open neutral or a miswired pedestal before that takes out a converter or air conditioner. A 50-amp version is on our recommended gear page.
- Camco 25-ft heated drinking water hose: a heated drinking-water hose rated to -20°F, so you can stay hooked up through a cold snap without a frozen supply line.
We don’t have a verified link we’re happy with yet for tank heaters or RV antifreeze, so pick those up locally; tank heaters sized for your tanks and pink RV antifreeze (never automotive) will do. More picks on our recommended gear page, and parts we carry in the United Mobile RV shop.

Airway Heights RV repair FAQ
Can you inspect my RV before a PCS move?
Yes. We check brakes, tires, lights, breakaway switch, hitch, LP system, batteries and charging, and run the generator under load. You get a list of anything that needs attention and a quote.
Do you come onto Fairchild AFB?
That depends on base access rules, which we don’t control. Most of our military customers have us meet them at off-base housing, a storage lot or an RV park.
Will you work at Northern Quest RV Resort?
Yes, where the resort allows outside technicians. Send your site number and let the front desk know we’re coming.
My generator hasn’t run in a year. Will it start?
Maybe, but old gas in a carburetor is the usual reason a stored generator surges or won’t start. We service it and test it under load before your trip.
Can you winterize my rig before I deploy or travel?
Yes. Flat-rate winterization is $175 for a travel trailer and $225 for a fifth wheel or motorhome. We can also set up a battery disconnect or monitor so it’s healthy when you get back.
What does a visit cost?
The on-site diagnostic visit is $175. It’s a standalone fee for on-site troubleshooting. Labor is $150/hr. Every visit has a minimum: one hour of labor ($150) or the $175 diagnostic, depending on the job. $75 trip fee within 50 miles. Over 50 miles, $2.00/mile both ways. Parts and supplies vary per job.
Can you help remotely if I’m already on the road?
Yes. Remote support by phone, video or Victron VRM works anywhere, and it’s often enough to get you to the next stop.
