Electrical, Power Systems & Appliance Repair

Professional power systems and appliance repair for RVs, vans, trailers, and skoolies β€” diagnosed correctly and fixed at your location. A light that flickers, a battery that drains overnight, a converter that runs constantly β€” these aren’t simple fixes, and throwing parts at them without a proper diagnosis wastes your money and your time.

Advanced electrical diagnostics, Victron solar and battery system builds, and full appliance repair β€” all on-site.

Advanced Electrical Diagnostics for Power Systems and Appliance Repair

Using thermal imaging, we identify hot spots in wiring, overloaded circuits, failing connections, and heat-generating faults that are completely invisible to the naked eye β€” and often missed entirely by techs who rely on visual inspection alone. Thermal imaging is especially valuable for finding intermittent problems that only show up under load.

Professional DVOM testing lets us measure voltage drop, resistance, current draw, and continuity across the entire system with precision. We test at the source, along the circuit, and at the load β€” not just at the most convenient access point.

Shore Power Faults

Miswired pedestals, reverse polarity, open ground conditions, and failed transfer switches can damage your RV’s electrical system silently over time. We test incoming shore power, verify proper wiring at the outlet, and trace any faults through the transfer path.

Battery Drain & Parasitic Draw

Parasitic draw testing isolates the exact circuit or component pulling power when everything should be off. This is a methodical process that requires proper technique β€” not guesswork β€” and we do it right.

Converter & Charger Failures

A failing converter can undercharge batteries, overcharge them, or fail completely. We test output voltage, charge stages, and internal fusing to determine whether your converter needs repair or replacement.

Wiring Issues & Intermittent Faults

Corroded connections, undersized wire, improper splices, and damaged insulation are common in RVs β€” especially older ones. We trace circuits systematically, identify the actual fault location, and repair it properly rather than patching over it.

Power Systems & Energy Upgrades

LiFePO4 batteries, MPPT solar controllers, and inverter/charger systems have made true off-grid living practical β€” but only when designed and installed correctly. A system that’s undersized, improperly wired, or missing key protections will underperform at best and fail dangerously at worst. We are Victron Energy Certified Installers. We design, install, and commission Victron systems the right way β€” properly programmed, balanced, and documented.

LiFePO4 Battery Systems

Higher usable capacity, faster charging, longer cycle life, and significantly less weight than AGM. We size the battery bank to your actual usage and ensure proper BMS integration and charge parameter compatibility across your entire system.

MPPT Solar Controllers

MPPT controllers extract significantly more power from your panels compared to PWM controllers, especially in variable light conditions. We size the controller to your panel array and battery bank, handle proper wiring with appropriate fusing, and configure the charge profile to match your battery chemistry.

Inverter / Charger Setup

A properly sized inverter/charger handles AC power output when you’re off-grid, charges your batteries when plugged in, and in systems like the Victron Multiplus or Quattro, blends shore power and inverter power seamlessly. We handle the full installation β€” AC wiring, DC connections, transfer switching, and programming.

Shore Power Coordination

A well-designed system transitions between solar, battery, and shore power cleanly and automatically β€” prioritizing solar when available, drawing from batteries as needed, and accepting shore power without conflict. Input current limits are set appropriately so you don’t trip breakers at campgrounds with limited amperage.

Full System Commissioning

Installation is only half of it. After wiring is complete, we commission the system β€” verify all parameters, test under load, confirm communication between components, and document the configuration.

Remote Monitoring Setup

Victron’s VRM portal gives you real-time visibility into your entire system from your phone β€” battery state of charge, solar production, power consumption, and charging status, live. We set this up as part of every Victron installation.

Power Systems and Appliance Repair β€” On-Site Service

RV appliances operate differently than residential counterparts. Most run on both LP gas and 120V AC or DC power, switching between them automatically. That dual-fuel design gives flexibility β€” but it also means more components, more potential failure points, and more ways for a diagnosis to go wrong if the technician doesn’t understand how the system actually works.

Dometic Professional

Refrigerators β€” Dometic & Norcold

Common failures include cooling unit failure, control board issues, burner and igniter problems, and thermistor faults. We diagnose the actual failure before recommending a repair path β€” and address the ventilation issues that shorten cooling unit life in the first place.

Furnaces β€” Suburban & Atwood

A furnace that won’t light, short-cycles, or runs the blower without producing heat is almost always diagnosable on-site. We test sail switch operation, igniter condition, LP pressure at the appliance, limit switch continuity, and control board function.

Air Conditioning β€” Dometic & Coleman/Mach

Rooftop RV A/C units fail in predictable ways β€” capacitor failure, dirty evaporator and condenser coils, failed thermostats, and compressor issues. We test capacitors under power, check refrigerant system operation, inspect and clean coil surfaces, and verify thermostat and control board function.

Water Heaters β€” Suburban & Atwood

Common failures include thermocouple failure on gas, element failure on electric, anode rod deterioration, and control board faults on DSI models. We test both the gas and electric sides independently and verify ignition sequence on DSI units.

How We Work

Every diagnosis starts with a proper operational test β€” we run the appliance or system and observe what it actually does before assuming anything. Electrical testing confirms what the control system is seeing. Gas pressure testing confirms what the burner assembly is working with. We don’t replace parts based on symptoms alone. If an appliance or system is beyond economical repair, we’ll tell you that too β€” along with what a replacement would cost and what’s involved in the swap.
