Mobile RV service in White Salmon and Bingen

White Salmon sits on the bluff above SR-14, straight across the river from Hood River, with Bingen down by the water and the White Salmon River valley running north through Husum and BZ Corner toward Trout Lake and Mount Adams. It’s one of the busiest RV stops in the Gorge: kiteboarders and windsurfers in summer, rafters on the White Salmon, wine country visitors, and travelers heading east on SR-14 toward the Columbia Hills. RV service bays are a long haul in any direction.

If you searched for mobile RV repair near me from White Salmon or Bingen, we come to the rig. We fix roof AC units that can’t keep up in July, generators, fridges, furnaces and water heaters, dead batteries and shore power faults, and we do the bigger power and connectivity work: lithium, solar and Victron systems, and Starlink, Peplink and weBoost for spots where signal is weak.

United Mobile RV LLC is dealership-trained, 11+ years: a Victron Energy Certified Installer, a weBoost Certified Installer/Reseller, a Dometic Professional and a Peplink Certified Associate.

RV parks and campgrounds around White Salmon

We’re not affiliated with any of these parks. They’re places local RVers stay, and we’ll meet you at your site where the park allows outside technicians:

  • Gorge Base Camp: in White Salmon near the Hood River bridge, with 35 sites, 20/30/50-amp service, room for rigs up to 80 feet, open year-round.
  • Horsethief Lake: in Columbia Hills Historical State Park east of Lyle, with 8 partial-hookup sites, open seasonally.
  • Trout Lake area campgrounds: Forest Service and county campgrounds around Trout Lake and Mount Adams, mostly without hookups.
  • Driveways and acreage: around White Salmon, Husum and Trout Lake, where many local rigs live.

East of White Salmon the Gorge dries out and heats up fast. A site that’s shaded and cool in Stevenson can be bare and hot at Horsethief Lake.

RV life around White Salmon: wind, summer heat and east-wind ice

White Salmon is drier and sunnier than the west end of the Gorge, and summer afternoons can be hot, especially east toward Lyle and Dallesport. Roof AC units that were fine on the coast struggle here, and fridges lose ground when the outside vent sits in the afternoon sun.

The wind is why many people come: west wind funnels through this part of the Gorge most summer afternoons. It’s hard on awnings, vent lids, AC shrouds and slide toppers, and it blows grit into every seam.

Winters are colder than in Vancouver. East wind from the Columbia Basin can bring freezing temperatures, freezing rain and ice storms along SR-14, and Trout Lake sits higher and gets real snow. Unwinterized rigs split lines, and lithium batteries need protection from charging below freezing.

Up the White Salmon valley and around Trout Lake, cell coverage is spotty and many campgrounds have no hookups, so batteries, solar and the generator carry the trip.

RV repairs we do most around White Salmon

The calls we get most from White Salmon and the east end of the Gorge, with a short explanation of each:

  • Wind damage, awnings and roof parts. Gorge wind is hard on everything mounted to the outside of a rig: awnings that get caught by a gust, cracked vent lids, loose AC shrouds, and slide toppers that flap until they tear. Damage up top often shows up later as a leak or an electrical fault. We check the roof, reseal what’s been disturbed and repair awning motors, switches and wiring. Grit blown into seals and awning mechanisms is a regular find here. See roof and seals.
  • Roof AC that can’t keep up. On hot afternoons, a roof AC with dirty coils, a weak start capacitor or a failing fan motor can’t hold temperature, and low voltage at a busy pedestal makes it worse. As a Dometic Professional we service and repair Dometic AC units, check voltage under load, and tell you whether a soft-start or a power fix will help. See our Dometic AC guide.
  • Refrigerators. Absorption fridges that cool on propane but not electric (or the reverse), fridges that won’t light, cooling-unit failures, and residential fridges that shut off because the inverter or batteries can’t keep up. As a Dometic Professional we work on Dometic units every week, and we troubleshoot Norcold and residential fridges too. Fridges lose ground in the heat; vent airflow and a clean burner often make a big difference. See our Dometic fridge guide and electrical and appliance repair.
  • Generator service and repair. We service and repair Onan, Generac and Kohler RV generators: oil, filters and plugs, plus surging, no-start and shut-down-under-load problems. Gas units that sit for months often surge because old fuel varnishes the carburetor; running the generator under load about once a month helps. Generators run the AC on hot days at no-hookup sites, so surging under load shows up fast here. See generator service.
  • Winterizing and freeze damage. We winterize with a compressed-air blow-out, RV antifreeze where you want it, and a water heater bypass, and we fix the split fittings, cracked pump heads and leaking valves that a missed freeze leaves behind. Trout Lake and the hills freeze earlier and harder than the river, so winterize sooner up there. See plumbing and our winterization guide.
  • Victron, lithium and solar. As a Victron Energy Certified Installer we install and service MultiPlus inverter/chargers, SmartShunt monitors, Cerbo GX and VRM monitoring, DC-DC charging and solar. Plenty of summer sun east of White Salmon makes solar a good fit, paired with lithium and a SmartShunt. See Victron systems.
  • LP gas, furnace and water heater. Furnaces that click but won’t light, water heaters that fault out, regulators that freeze up or leak, and LP detectors past their date. We leak-test and pressure-check before we call anything fixed. Furnaces and water heaters get a workout in cold, windy winters. See LP gas.

How a mobile visit works

  1. Call, text or book online with the year, make and model, what the rig is doing, and where it’s parked around White Salmon. Photos or a short video help.
  2. We ask a few questions first. Some problems are a setting or a tripped breaker, and we’ll tell you if a remote session can sort it out without a trip.
  3. If we need to come out, we set a day and a time window. Let the park office or storage facility know an outside technician is coming.
  4. On site we test before we replace: meter readings, load tests, and thermal imaging where it helps. You get a plain explanation and a quote before any repair starts.
  5. Most repairs are finished on the same visit. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you what and how long, then come back to finish.
