Mobile RV Repair in Yakima, Selah and Ellensburg, WA

Yakima and the Kittitas Valley sit on the dry side of the Cascades, where I-82 meets I-90. RVers come for wine country, the Yakima River, the Ellensburg Rodeo and the mountain passes, and plenty of locals keep a rig in the driveway for summer trips. United Mobile RV comes to your rig in Yakima, Selah, Union Gap, Ellensburg and the towns around them.

Hot summers and cold winters both test an RV here. Our main work is Victron, solar and lithium, air conditioning and shore power problems, Starlink and Peplink, and diagnostics when something quits.

United Mobile RV LLC is dealership-trained with 11+ years: a Victron Energy Certified Installer, a weBoost Certified Installer/Reseller, a Dometic Professional, and a Peplink Certified Associate.

Highways and routes

  • I-90 runs west from Ellensburg over Snoqualmie Pass to Seattle, and east to Vantage and the Columbia River.
  • US-12 heads west from Yakima through Naches toward White Pass. SR-410 splits off toward Chinook Pass, which closes in winter.

  • SR-821 follows the Yakima River Canyon between Ellensburg and Selah, a slower and much prettier alternative to I-82.

Campgrounds and RV parks around Yakima and Ellensburg

We’re not affiliated with these parks. They’re common stays in the area, and we’ll meet you at your site:

  • Yakima Sportsman State Park on the Yakima River at the east edge of Yakima, with standard and full-hookup sites, some for RVs up to 60 feet. The park closes from October 1 to April 16.
  • Circle H RV Ranch in Yakima, a private park with full hookups and 20/30/50-amp service.
  • Ellensburg KOA Journey on the Yakima River, with full-hookup and pull-through sites and 50-amp service. Sewer sites are limited in summer.
  • Wanapum Recreation Area near Vantage, next to Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park on the Columbia. It has 50 full-hookup sites for RVs up to 60 feet and is open year-round.
  • Yakima River Canyon campgrounds on SR-821: Roza, Lmuma Creek and Umtanum, run by the BLM. They’re open year-round, with no hookups and no drinking water.

What we work on in the Yakima Valley

  • Air conditioning and 30-amp limits. On a hot afternoon the roof AC, fridge and microwave can trip a 30-amp breaker or overload a weak pedestal. We test the AC, check the shore power side and set up soft starts or load management so it stops tripping. See RV electrical.
  • Solar in a sunny climate. The dry side gets plenty of summer sun, so solar pays off. We size panels, charge controllers and batteries for dry camping in the canyon and long summer stays. Our solar sizing guide shows the math.
  • Lithium through a real winter. Winter cold means lithium needs low-temperature charge protection or heat, and lead-acid banks in storage freeze when they run flat. See Victron systems.
  • Connectivity in the canyons. Cell signal fades fast once you’re down in the Yakima River Canyon or up toward the passes. We set up Starlink, weBoost and Peplink. See connectivity.
  • Appliances and diagnostics. Fridges that can’t keep up in the heat, furnaces, water heaters and water pumps, diagnosed at your site.

Seasonal notes

Summer days in the Yakima Valley regularly reach the 90s, so roof AC and shore power get a workout from June through September, and wildfire smoke can cut solar output for days at a time. Winters are cold, with snow on Snoqualmie, White Pass and Blewett Pass, and Yakima Sportsman closes for the season. Winter calls are mostly driveways, storage lots and year-round parks. Ellensburg is known for wind in every season, so we mount roof gear to stay put.

While you’re here

  • Yakima Valley wine country, with more than 90 wineries spread down the valley.
  • The Yakima Greenway, about 18 miles of paved path along the Yakima and Naches rivers.
  • The Ellensburg Rodeo, held every Labor Day weekend.
  • Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park at Vantage, above the Columbia River.

Pricing

On-site diagnostic visit: $175. Labor: $150/hr. The $175 diagnostic is a standalone fee for on-site troubleshooting. Every visit has a minimum: one hour of labor ($150) or the $175 diagnostic, depending on the job. $75 trip fee within 50 miles. Over 50 miles, $2.00/mile both ways. Parts and supplies vary per job. You’ll get a quote before any repair work starts. The details are on our pricing page.

Help before we get there

If your AC or charging system is acting up, call or text first. A remote support session can often find the problem by video or VRM, and if we need to come out, we’ll bring the right parts.

Frequently asked questions

My breaker trips when the AC and microwave run together. Can you fix that?

Usually. On 30-amp service those two together can exceed what the circuit carries. We check the wiring and the AC, then look at a soft start, load management or an inverter/charger that can help carry short peaks.

Do you come out to the Yakima River Canyon campgrounds?

Yes, where BLM rules allow. The canyon sites have no hookups, so bigger jobs may be easier at a full-hookup park or your driveway.

Do you cover Ellensburg and Cle Elum?

Yes. Ellensburg, Kittitas, Thorp and Cle Elum are on our Yakima route days. Text your location for the next date.

Do you work out here in winter?

Yes, weather and passes permitting. We’ll confirm the day before if snow or ice is coming.
