Coleman Mach AC Troubleshooting

Fan Runs, Compressor Won’t Kick On
Check pedestal/generator voltage first — Coleman Mach compressors have a start-capacitor circuit sensitive to low voltage, and many “dead compressor” calls turn out to be a sagging 30-amp connection rather than the AC unit itself. If voltage is solid, a failed start capacitor or run capacitor is the next most common cause.
Unit Cycles On and Off Rapidly
Usually a dirty condenser coil or a frozen evaporator coil restricting airflow — both trip the thermal overload protection built into the compressor. Cleaning the coils (accessible by removing the roof shroud) resolves the majority of short-cycling complaints.
Thermostat Not Responding
Newer Coleman Mach units pair a digital or app-connected thermostat to the roof unit over a low-voltage control wire — a loose connector at the ceiling assembly is a common, easy-to-miss cause of a thermostat that shows power but won’t control the unit.
