Chassis & Engine Diagnostics

Most mobile RV techs don’t touch the engine or chassis. When something goes wrong under the hood, the answer is usually “take it to a dealer” — a frustrating dead end when you’re parked at a campground or trying to figure out whether a used motorhome is worth buying. Our chassis repair and maintenance service changes that.

United Mobile RV LLC brings 11+ years of professional automotive mechanical experience to RV chassis and engine work — dealership-trained on BMW and Mercedes-Benz platforms, with professional-grade scan tool capability at your location.

BOOK A DIAGNOSTIC

Chassis Repair and Maintenance Service — Platforms We Work On

This isn’t oil changes and tire rotations. This is real diagnostic work on the mechanical systems that keep your motorhome moving.

Ford E-Series & F-53

The most common gas motorhome chassis in the country. Class A and Class C motorhomes on Ford platforms make up a significant portion of the RV fleet, and Ford diagnostic capability is core to what we do.

GM & Workhorse

Chevrolet and GMC van chassis under Class C motorhomes, and Workhorse W-Series chassis used under a wide range of Class A gas coaches through the 2000s and early 2010s.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

The dominant platform for Class B motorhomes and high-end Class C conversions. Sprinter diagnostics require Mercedes-specific scan tool capability and familiarity with the platform’s known issues — both of which we have.

Ram ProMaster

An increasingly common van platform for Class B and custom van conversions. Full diagnostic capability on-site.

Freightliner & Other Class A Diesel

Diagnostic capability on Freightliner Custom Chassis — fault code reading, cooling system diagnostics, and pre-trip assessment on diesel pushers. Heavy-duty diesel engine overhaul is outside the scope of mobile work, but diagnosis, minor repairs, and accurate direction are not.

What Our Repair and Maintenance Service Covers

Check Engine & Fault Code Diagnosis

We pull codes, analyze freeze frame data, and trace the fault to its actual cause rather than clearing the light and hoping it stays off. Real diagnosis — not a code read and a guess.

Cooling System Issues

Overheating is one of the most serious and most common problems on motorhome chassis — particularly on older gas coaches with high mileage. We diagnose coolant leaks, thermostat failures, water pump condition, radiator flow, and cooling fan operation on-site.

Belts, Hoses & Preventive Inspection

Serpentine belt condition, tensioner and idler pulley condition, coolant hose inspection, and a general underhood assessment. These are the items that fail on the road and leave you stranded — all inspectable and replaceable on-site.

Battery & Charging System

Chassis battery load test, alternator output voltage and amperage verification, and starting system diagnosis. A motorhome with a dead chassis battery or failing alternator is a problem we can diagnose and resolve at your location.

Brake System Inspection

Visual brake inspection on accessible components, brake fluid condition check, and brake system fault code diagnosis on platforms with ABS and electronic brake management. Trailer brake controller function and output verification on tow vehicles.

Transmission & Drivetrain Fault Codes

Transmission fault code diagnosis and freeze frame analysis. We don’t rebuild transmissions on-site, but we can tell you accurately what a fault code means, whether it’s a sensor issue or a mechanical issue, and what the appropriate next step is.

Pre-Trip Safety Assessment

Before a long trip or cross-country move, a mechanical walk-around and systems check gives you confidence that the engine, cooling system, belts, hoses, brakes, and tires are in acceptable condition. Especially valuable on older coaches and recently purchased rigs.

What This Repair and Maintenance Service Isn’t

We’re not a chassis shop. Major engine rebuilds, transmission overhauls, suspension component replacement requiring a lift, and frame repair are shop-based work that can’t be done properly in a driveway or campsite. When a repair is beyond what mobile service can accomplish correctly, we’ll tell you that directly — along with what the repair actually involves and what to ask for when you take it somewhere.

THE VALUE OF AN ON-SITE DIAGNOSIS

What we provide is accurate diagnosis, honest assessment, and the mechanical knowledge to tell you exactly what’s wrong and what it takes to fix it. For a lot of chassis issues, that diagnosis on-site is the most valuable part of the whole process — so you’re not making a $4,000 decision based on a guess.
